Is medicinal cannabis prescribed on the NHS?

Medical cannabis is rarely prescribed on the NHS. There are currently three licensed medicines – Sativex for MS, Nabilone for CINV, and Epidyiolex for rare types of epilepsies and seizure disorders.

However, since 2018, a number of private cannabis clinics have operated, seeing patients virtually, and there is now a wide range of unlicensed cannabis medicines available to be prescribed when a specialist doctor sees fit.
